Why cooling cutting flowers

Directly from the field or greenhouse, the flowers have to be cooled down as soon as possible to slow down the respiration and that way their response to ethylene, moisture loss and physical damage. Cooling also reduces other metabolic activities and slows down the rate of the opening of the flowers.
